A real life octocontra clarinet mouthpiece! This is the same mouthpiece that I use with the JDWoodwinds EEEb octocontra-alto clarinet. The design lets it speak easily across the entire range of the instrument, even at frequencies below 20Hz. I tried to design this mouthpiece with roughly the same proportions as the original Leblanc octocontra mouthpiece, but with a modernized chamber and facing. I’ve optimized it to use Legere 2.5 contrabass saxophone reeds, they are difficult to find but not unobtainable. In a pinch it can also use a Legere 2.5 contrabass clarinet reed, though you have to be careful how you position it and the tone and response will not be as good. Works well with a Rovner contrabass clarinet ligature.
Two tenon sizes are available. The “standard” size is 40mm, however a 36mm size compatible with the Foag Octocontrabass clarinet is also available.
