Please note: this will only fit the straight metal Leblanc contra alto and contrabass clarinet, it will NOT fit on a Vito or any of the plastic bodied contra clarinets.
Looking for better projection and a more full and less reedy sound for your straight Leblanc contra clarinet? While the model 352 and 342 contra clarinets are designed well overall, the bell of these instruments is simply a slightly modified bass clarinet bell with no tone hole. This means that not only is the bell itself undersized, but also the bore constricts by a few mm, causing stuffiness and less than ideal response. The JDWoodwinds contra clarinet bell solves these problems in three ways:
A proportionally sized bell, more similar in size to the bells you would find on Selmer or Buffet contra clarinets, helps even out the tone and improves projection.
A bell bow with a properly sized bore reduces stuffiness and further improves projection.
A forward facing vent hole for low Eb like you find on many bass clarinets further refines the tone of the lower notes.
The result is an immediate improvement with no permanent modifications to the instrument. The only downside is that due to the larger size it will need to be stored outside the case. Features a clamping mechanism to securely attach it to the lower joint and a cutout for the floor peg.
