Despite being somewhat popular in the 20s, the C soprano sax has unfortunately been neglected by manufacturers over the years despite being a very useful size of saxophone. After acquiring a lovely Buescher True Tone I wanted to design a mouthpiece that offered great response and intonation across the range and excellent compatibility with Bb soprano reeds. To make this mouthpiece I used an original Buescher mouthpiece as a starting point and slowly modified different parameters and made many prototypes until I arrived at a mouthpiece that I was very happy with. This mouthpiece features a 1.25mm tip opening and works well with 2-2.5 Vandoren soprano saxophone reeds. I’ve also designed a slip-on ligature to match this mouthpiece that holds the reed with 2 rails, providing excellent response and resonance. This mouthpiece will otherwise work with most large sized soprano saxophone ligatures (anything that will fit a Yamaha 4C will fit this mouthpiece).
All of my mouthpieces are made from an FDA approved material and can easily be washed with soap and warm water to remove germs. As with any woodwind mouthpiece, it is recommended to clean your mouthpiece (and reed) after each play session to help your equipment last as long as possible and prevent the build up of germs
