Bass clarinet neck, standard or steep angle (Kessler, Ridenour, Selmer & Yamaha fit)
This accessory is akin to an upgraded barrel for a Bb clarinet. It is designed to make your bass clarinet more responsive and improve projection, articulation and transitions between registers. These necks are made of a wood composite material chosen for its superior resonance and response compared to solid wood or metal. Features a high mass copper tenon. This neck will fit the following models:
Kessler bass clarinet (will not fit on the new heavy mass necks! If your neck has a Kessler badge on it this neck will be too loose)
Ridenour bass clarinet (all generations)
Selmer model 30, 32 and 33 bass clarinets (including the Series 9)
Selmer 67 “Privilege” bass clarinet (wide angle necks only)
Yamaha 621 & 622 bass clarinet (all generations)
Note: due to wear and variation between instruments it may be necessary to have a tech fit the tuning slide of this neck to your instrument. Most of the time this is not necessary and the neck will fit well but I mention this as I have encountered situations where a slightly larger or smaller tenon is needed. A tech experienced with sax or flute repair will have no issue resizing the tuning slide.
If you prefer, you are more than welcome to mail in the keyed section of your stock bass clarinet neck and I can size my neck to fit for no additional cost. Click Contact to inquire.
This neck is available with either a “standard” angle, which matches the stock neck, or a “steep” angle (approximately 10 degrees steeper than the standard) that is closer to the Buffet Prestige or the necks manufactured by Charles Bay. Any other angle is available on request for no additional cost. An M6x8mm threaded insert compatible with the PiezoBarrel pickup is also available for an additional $10 (A plug will be included so you can use the neck with no pickup). This neck is available in black wood composite or copper composite.
