Romantic Era 1893 Buffet Clarinet In A, Fully Overhauled!
For sale we have a lovely Romantic Era Buffet A clarinet made in 1893! This clarinet has just been overhauled by Howard Woodwind Company, an authorized Buffet dealer, and plays beautifully from top to bottom. Unlike later Buffets made after the turn of the century, this instrument features a relatively small 14.75mm bore giving it a nice focused tone and good intonation, even with modern mouthpieces! It is for this reason that many clarinet players looking for an authentic Romantic Era clarinet will seek these instruments out in particular. To keep this instrument more historically accurate, white leather pads were used throughout. Overall the instrument looks quite good for it’s age. It does show dents, dings, scratches and other wear as expected for an 130 year old instrument, however I do not see any cracks. I did find that the original 68mm barrel was a bit too long for my tastes, so included in this sale is a custom made 67mm 3D printed barrel. With this new barrel, this instrument works very well with modern mouthpieces, something that cannot be said for all vintage clarinets! Comes with a single hard case.
