Buffet Pre-R13 Clarinet In A, Fully Overhauled With No Cracks!
For sale we have a lovely Buffet Pre-R13 A clarinet. This clarinet has just been fully overhauled by Chris Howard, so despite having been made in 1902 it plays beautifully from top to bottom with a nice full sound and good response. Both joints have a fantastic seal and the keys feel nice and solid. This clarinet features long lasting Valentino pads along with synthetic felt key corks throughout most of the instrument, meaning you will spend less time at the shop and more time enjoying your horn! The keys are made of solid nickel silver that has been polished to a mirror finish, and unlike modern horns you will never have to worry about plating wear. The wood is completely free of cracks or other major signs of damage. One thing to note is that this instrument originally had a 7th ring but was converted to standard Boehm system, because of this there are some areas where the wood was filled in on the upper joint, however the work was done very well. Other than that the instrument is in good condition with only normal wear, scratches and dings. Compared to the R13 this instrument has a slightly larger cylindrical bore, with my mouthpiece that I use on my R13 the intonation is decent across the range of the instrument. This would be an excellent first A clarinet for a college student or a professional on a budget. Comes with a double case in good condition.
