For sale we have a beautiful 1981 Buffet R13A clarinet in the key of A. This is my own personal A clarinet and I am selling it to pay off another horn. While many consider the Buffet golden era to be from the 60s to 1975, I’ve often found that Buffet clarinets from the early 80s have the best fit and finish with beautifully finished tone holes from the factory and excellent workmanship all around. This clarinet barely showed any signs of use when I got it, it looked like someone bought it, barely played it and left it in a closet for all those years. I performed a full overhaul my favorite combination of cork and leather pads. as part of this overhaul keys were tightened and pad heights were also carefully adjusted to ensure a nice even response throughout. The wood was also oiled with natural almond oil with vitamin E added to preserve the wood. Both joints have a nice tight seal that you would have a hard time finding on any new Buffet from the factory. The response is excellent and is the main reason I chose this as my personal horn. The nickel plating on the keys is in excellent condition, the only plating wear I see is a small amount on the thumb tube which is common as the plating is very thin there on older Buffets. The wood is crack free and shows very little signs of wear. The bore is also beautiful and shiny. Comes with the original double case, two barrels, original mouthpiece (some ligature scratches but others in good shape) and the E/B key depressor which you will not need as all pads were carefully leveled one at a time by hand.
